Historic Ala Moana Pumping Station
As reported to the Board by Sherry Goya, KIA Executive Director, the KIA website (www.kia-hawaii.org) had 78 visits, with 57 unique visitors in the past month, and 390 page views. KIA members should be sure that their listing is current and accurate. Any changes to the KIA website may be emailed to sgoyallc@aol.com and the website will be updated.
It is expected that with the increased development in Kakaako, there will be continued dialogue at the State and City levels regarding concerns related to traffic, infrastructure, and the overall impact to the district. The KIA Board will be closely monitoring potential legislative action or initiatives that will have an impact to businesses and landowners in the district.
Renewals for 2014 were emailed to KIA members whose membership starts in January. Membership fees have not increased since KIA began 25 years ago. For one to 19 employees, the membership fee is only $50 and just $100 for 20 or more employees of a company. The annual dues provides KIA members with a monthly newsletter, the KIA website, two General Membership Meetings and two Networking Events.
The first General Membership Meeting for 2014 will be held on Wednesday, January 29th from 11:30am in the Cupola Events Theater in the Honolulu Design Center. As a longtime KIA member, they have a big meeting room, plenty of free parking, and will have a nice lunch. They are located at 1250 Kapiolani Boulevard, with entrances from both Pensacola and Piikoi Streets. KIA will ask for RSVP’s in January. Since KIA pays for each member and one guest to attend at no cost, those who make an RSVP and do not attend, will be charged $10 per person (unless a replacement attends).
Guest speakers scheduled to attend are Councilwoman Carol Fukunaga, HCDA Executive Director Anthony Ching, and OHA Trustee Peter Apo.
