KIA General Membership Meeting

The first KIA General Membership Meeting for 2021 will be held on Wednesday, January 27th from 11:30am. Mark your calendar now because the guest speakers will be Mayor Rick Blangiardi and Councilwoman Carol Fukunaga. This meeting will be held via Zoom, with RSVP's taken in January.


Rick Blangiardi is a former media executive who is well-known as being the longtime General Manager of Hawaii News Now. Prior to returning to Hawaii, he led TV stations in New York, Seattle, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. He also served as President of Telemundo, the country’s second-largest Hispanic network. Rick served in the U.S. Navy Reserve for six years and early in his career, was an Associate Head Football Coach and Defensive Coordinator at the University of Hawaii.


KIA 2021 Dues

KIA members may renew any time from December to January for their 2021 membership dues. The renewal form is attached to this newsletter. The only difference is "small business" of less than 25 employees will be $80 per year, an increase of just $5. Please print the form and fax or email if dues will be made by charge card or mail to the post office box if paying with a check. The KIA Board appreciates your continue support by being a valuable member.


KIA News

There is a Holiday Tasting Menu at the Honolulu Design Center's Stage Restaurant and Amuse Wine Bar, where there is a new three-course meal though December. Executive Chef Ron de Guzman, Sous Chef Joy Yamane and Pastry Chef Cainan Sabey present a festive Holiday Menu for your pleasure Tuesday through Saturday. Visit their webpage for menu details, and make reservations at 808-237-5429.


Children’s Discover Center is sponsoring some fun Christmas activities on December 12th and 13th from 10am to noon and 1pm to 3pm, with participation limited to ten families each session. They will have Santa’s Secret Workshops for keiki and their families. Children can make tree ornaments, Christmas wreaths and also learn to decorate their own wrapping paper. Cost is $35 for nonmembers and $25 for members; extra adults are $10. Register at discoverycenterhawaii.org/events.
