KIA Networking Event

An elite group of KIA members attended the "first-ever" KIA Networking Event via Zoom on Wednesday, October 21st. Everyone took time off during the 11:30am to 12:30pm (lunch time) to see and talk with each other. As with in-person past networking events, everyone had time to talk about their business.  Here's a summary of what KIA members shared:

Michael Libertini, with Compass Home Loans, said that the company is right outside of Kakaako but he has been a long-time resident of the area. Interest rates are at an all-time low and he has been very busy assisting those with home ownership, as well as refinancing. Michael is a KIA Board member and the Host of all Zoom meetings.

Shawna Lewis, from the Bergeman Group, with a local office in Kakaako, says they are a construction management firm that organizes, orchestras and oversees construction projects on behalf of condominium associations.

Dailyn Imai, of MD Restoration, said they are currently focused on their COVID cleaning service, as well as water extraction and restoration as Hawaii heads into its rainy season.

Daryn Ogino, with Smart Money, has worked in the mortgage industry for 16 years, and started Smart Money in 2007. As a mortgage broker, he helps homeowners get the best interest rates at the lowest costs by shopping mortgage lenders nationwide. He is your personal shopper for mortgages!

Peterson Rosario, of dooplikit, is Hawaii's first and only multi-faceted 3D imaging and 3D selfie company, providing full-body scans of individuals, pets and props. These scans are then 3D printed into figurines in different mediums like full color sandstone and metals. More information can be found at dooplikit.com. He is also trained in multi-camera media production. Peterson is on the KIA Board and works with the Executive Director on monthly newsletter and the KIA website.

There have been a lot of changes in Ward Village, with retail and restaurants closing; however, there are two projects under construction.

Sherry Goya, KIA's Executive Director, has a consulting business, Sherry A. Goya, LLC, that was established in 1993.  She works with two other associations, works with a shopping center, and does marketing, websites, bulk mailing, newsletters, etc. for many individuals and small companies. Sherry also owns Real Estate Referral Center, Inc.

Thanksgiving Recipe

Turkey Oven Kalua

12 lb turkey

12 ti leaves

1 banana leaf

1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened

3 tbs Hawaiian salt

2 tsp liquid smoke

Rinse and drain turkey. Line a large baking pan with heavy duty foil. Wash ti leaves and banana leaf, removing fibrous part of the veins. Line pan with the ti leaves, radiating from the center, and half of the banana leaf. Put the turkey on the leaves. Rub remaining ingredients on inside and outside of turkey. Fold leaves around the turkey and place remaining banana leaf over the turkey. Crimp the foil around the turkey and cover the pan tightly with additional foil. Roast at 375 degrees for six hours. Shred turkey, and add enough of the pan liquid to moisten the meat.
