KIA General Membership Meeting

The last General Membership Meeting for KIA in 2019 will be held on Wednesday, August 28th from 11:30am at Dave & Buster's in Kakaako. The KIA Board has a great list of presenters who will be providing up-to-date information that will benefit all members, whether an individual or business.  RSVPs will be taken in August.

Coralie Chun Matayoshi, CEO of the American Red Cross, Pacific Islands Region, will do a presentation on disaster preparedness. Senator Sharon Moriwaki, the senator from the Kakaako area, will offer some legislative information. Learn about the Stanford Carr Development programs in and coming to Kakaako. The city's staff will let KIA members know about the state-to-city land transfers.

KIA FUNDRAISER

Plans are now underway to have a "KIA Beer, Wine & Pupu Fundraiser" at REAL gastropub on Tuesday, September 24th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Mark your calendars now and be on the lookout for the flyer and reservation form. More information will be in the KIA August newsletter. Anyone wishing to donate a door prize may contact Sherry Goya, KIA Executive Director, at sgoyallc@aol.com. There may be space on the flyer to put names of donators.

KIA News

KCAA Muriel Preschool is getting ready for the next school year and could always use paper - doesn't have to be plain white or any particular size. It could be used on one side, and they'll use the other side. Envelopes of different sizes could also be used for the children in the writing and art area. Feel free to drop them off at 1045 Kawaiahao Street, or call 593-0567 to make other arrangements.

KIA was sad to hear of the passing of David Muldoon who represented Global Technology Corporation. David was a big supporter of the KIA Invitational Golf Tournament as a golfer and someone who always donated prizes.

If you haven't already done so, please visit the Ohana Hale Marketplace in the old Sports Authority location on Ward.

KIA Membership

KIA welcomes members any time throughout the year and hopes that its current members would encourage individuals or companies interested in the Kakaako area, work or play in Kakaako, or have a desire to become a part this association, which began in 1987. The main purpose back then was to be the "voice" of its members to the legislature, state and city administrations and the Hawaii Community Development Authority (HCDA). Since then, however, KIA has surpassed that role and are respected by land owners, developers, legislators/staff, HCDA, as well as small businesses and residents of Kakaako. The two General Membership Meetings and two Networking Events bring members together to learn, interact, and be involved with what is happening in Kakaako. Attached to this newsletter is the KIA Membership Application form to email your circle of businesses, family or friends who would like to become a member of this active association.
