Welcome to 2021 from the KIA Board & Officers

The KIA Board and newly-elected officers for 2021 wish KIA members a very HAPPY NEW YEAR. The thirteen names on the ballot of potential directors in the December newsletter were approved by KIA members. At the January KIA Board meeting, the following officers of the Board were nominated and approved:

KIA General Membership Meeting

The date for the first KIA General Membership Meeting for 2021 has been CHANGED due to a conflict with the City Council's first meeting of the year. The KIA Board was very appreciative that Mayor Blangiardi could change his schedule to speak at the Wednesday, January 20th, meeting which will begin at 11:30am. Other speakers will provide updates on development projects in Kakaako. Mahalo to Doug Johnstone, President of Howard Hughes Corporation and

KIA News

KIA members will find on the second floor of the Honolulu Design Center the Stage Restaurant and Amuse Wine Bar. A three-course Island Inspired Tasting Menu is offered every Thursday from 5pm to 10pm Tuesday to Saturday, with the last seating for dinner service at 8:30pm. Happy Hour at the Amuse Wine Bar is from 5pm to 6pm. Reservations required at 808-237-5429.


Happy New Year from the Children's Discovery Center, who on December 31st, had multiple balloon drops at 12noon for keiki ohana. Their temporary hours open are Wednesday & Friday, 9am to 12noon, with Saturday & Sunday open 10am to 12noon and 1pm to 3pm. Tickets must be made in advance on their website at www.discoverycenterhawaii.org.

KIA Welcomes New Board Member

Nicole Nakano was voted in as a KIA Board of Director at the January13th Board meeting. She is the Vice President - Regional Account Executive at Interstate Restoration. Prior to joining Interstate Restoration, Nicole has a background in sales and marketing in an array of competitive industries including parking and banking. She graduated from Maryknoll School, received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of San Francisco, a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Hawaii Pacific University, and holds a real estate license. She is an active board member and 2021 President of BOMA (Building Owners & Managers Association); member of KIA, ICSC, CCIM and Oahu Country Club. Nicole lives, works, and play in Kakaako. During her free time, Nicole enjoys golfing, traveling, and trying new experiences.
